MCPOrbit is free software, distributed under the MIT licence. These terms describe what you can do with it, what we don't promise, and the responsibilities that stay with you. By installing or using the App you accept them.
At a glance
The short version, written in everyday English. The rest of this document is the binding legal text.
- MCPOrbit is free, open under the MIT licence, and provided as-is.
- You can use it for personal or commercial purposes — including at work.
- You are responsible for the MCP servers you connect to and for what you do through them.
- We give no warranties beyond what the law requires us to give, and our liability is limited.
- We can update these terms; if we do, we'll tell you and you can stop using the App if you disagree.
Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, installing, or using MCPOrbit (the App), or by visiting the marketing website at mcporbit.com (the Site), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (the Terms). If you do not agree, do not install or use the App and do not use the Site. Where you use the App on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

- “Services” means the App and the Site, together.
- “MCP server” means a server that implements the Model Context Protocol and that you choose to connect to using the App.
- “You” or “your” means the individual or entity using the Services.
- “We”, “us”, or “our” means the team that develops and operates MCPOrbit.
The licence
MCPOrbit is released under the MIT licence. Subject to that licence, you may use the App for personal or commercial purposes, modify it, embed it in other software, and redistribute it — provided you preserve the original copyright notice and the MIT licence text. The full text of the licence is included with the source code and is the authoritative copy.
Eligibility
You may use the Services only if you are at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by your local law) and capable of forming a binding contract. The Services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly process personal data from children. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use of, the Services by anyone else. In particular, you will not:
- Use the Services to access systems you do not own or have permission to interact with.
- Use the Services to violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right (including intellectual-property rights and privacy rights).
- Misrepresent MCPOrbit as endorsed by, affiliated with, or operated by any party that has not granted that endorsement.
- Remove, alter, or obscure copyright notices, licence notices, or other proprietary notices in copies of the Services you redistribute.
- Reverse engineer the App for the purpose of creating a competing product where the licence does not permit it.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Site or any infrastructure connected to it without our prior written consent.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services, our infrastructure, or the experience of other users.
- Use the Services to develop, train, or improve a model or product that competes with MCPOrbit, where doing so would breach the licence.
Your servers and your data
MCPOrbit is a local-first client. The MCP servers you connect to, the credentials you use to reach them, the tool calls you make, and the responses you receive are yours — we don't see them and don't keep them. You are solely responsible for:
- Choosing which MCP servers to connect to and ensuring you have the right to do so.
- Securing the credentials and secrets you supply to those servers.
- Complying with the terms and policies of the servers you address.
- Backing up any data you generate or that the servers return to you.
- Any consequences of tool calls you initiate, including modifications to the systems those calls reach.
Intellectual property
Subject to the MIT licence covering the App's source code, all content, design, and trademarks associated with the Services — including the MCPOrbit name and logo — remain the property of their respective owners. Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use any name, logo, or trademark without our prior written consent.
Third-party servers and services
The App connects to MCP servers and services operated by other people. Those servers have their own terms and privacy practices, which we don't control. When you use a third-party server through the App, your interaction with that server is governed by its terms, not ours, and we have no responsibility or liability for it.
Feedback
If you send us feedback, suggestions, bug reports, or feature requests (collectively, Feedback), you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use and incorporate that Feedback into the Services, without any obligation of compensation or attribution to you. Feedback is provided voluntarily and is not confidential unless you tell us otherwise in writing in advance.
Trademarks
“MCPOrbit” and the MCPOrbit logo are trademarks of the MCPOrbit project. You may refer to MCPOrbit factually (for example, in documentation that says “works with MCPOrbit”) but must not use the marks in a way that suggests sponsorship or endorsement, or that is likely to cause confusion as to the source of a product or service.
Disclaimer of warranty
The Services are provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any defects will be corrected. Use of the Services is at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will the authors, copyright holders, or operators of MCPOrbit be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with the Services, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the extent any liability cannot be excluded by law, our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to the Services is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Services in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, for free use of MCPOrbit, is zero) or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD $100).
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the authors, copyright holders, and operators of MCPOrbit from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or relating to (a) your use of the Services, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property or privacy right, in connection with your use of the Services.
Export controls and sanctions
You may not use, export, re-export, or transfer the App, directly or indirectly, in violation of applicable export-control laws or economic sanctions, including those of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. By using the App, you represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a resident of any country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions, and that you are not on any restricted-party list.
Termination
These Terms apply for as long as you use the Services. You may stop using the Services at any time by uninstalling the App and ceasing to access the Site. We may suspend or terminate access to the Site or to update services if you breach these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. The provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including, without limitation, the disclaimer of warranty, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing-law provisions) will survive.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer that cannot be waived under applicable local law.
Dispute resolution
Before filing a claim, you agree to try to resolve any dispute informally by emailing [email protected] with a description of the issue. We will do the same. If we cannot resolve the dispute within 60 days, either party may pursue formal legal action.
Venue
Subject to your statutory rights as a consumer, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services.
Miscellaneous
Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the MIT licence accompanying the source code, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services and supersede any prior agreements on that subject.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
No waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.
Assignment
You may not assign these Terms or any rights under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of assets.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will bump the “last updated” date at the top and, for material changes, announce them on the blog or in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Services after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Services before the effective date.
